The route for the 2027 Tour de France has just been announced, starting in Edinburgh.
Stage 2, 3rd July 2027 runs from Keswick to Liverpool, passing through Carnforth, Lancaster, and Garstang before heading over the Trough of Bowland and Waddington Fell to Blackburn, Belmont, Parbold and finishing in Liverpool.
The route was announced on Radio Lancashire on Thursday 15th January, in their "Lancashire Sports" programme, and included an interview with our club secretary John Ramsden, discussing how our local clubs could benefit from the publicity the Tour would bring passing over some of our favourite climbs.

We will be holding our annual Christmas Ride / Lunch on Sunday 14th December 2025 at Rolls Royce Social Club, Skipton Road, Barnoldswick.
As usual, we will be running a short ride before lunch, starting from the R.R Social Club at 10am, returning at 2:30pm for lunch at 3pm.
Lunch will be followed by presentation of the Jack Harrison and Bill Heywood trophies.
If you want to attend the lunch, please return your menu selection and payment of £34: three courses, or £28: two courses, per person to a member of the committee by the end of the October, as final payment and numbers must be returned to Rolls Royce at the beginning of November.

On Saturday 9th August, our short ride will be to an Open Day at Empowered People (Cycling Disability Charity) based in Todmorden. The ride will meet at Haggate cross-roads at 10am
This charity constructs, adapts and maintains bespoke cycles for people with disabilities, organises events and runs a number of social and weekend rides throughout the year.
Visitors will be able to
- see the workshop facilities and the variety of bikes used.
- Ride various types of bike eg trikes, recumbents, ebikes, bike train.
- Talk to volunteers and participants
Free brews and biscuits (cake if you're lucky)
The ride back from the Hub in Todmorden will be agreed on the day. If you're not able to come on the ride but would like to visit the Open Day it is open from 11am to 3pm and the address is Bentley Fielden, 2 Salford Way, Todmorden. OL14 7LF.
