Christmas Lunch - 2016

Our Christmas Lunch this year will be held at the Rolls Royce Social Club, Barnoldswick on Sunday 4th December at 3pm, and will be followed by a short awards presentation . This is a change from our normal venue as the Copy Nook is no longer available. . This year, because of the change of venue, payment upfront is required, along with your choice from the menu, a copy of which is available for download below. Slideshow - 23 November

On Wednesday 23rd November we will be holding a slide show at the Hare and Hounds at Haggate crossroads in Burnley. 100 Mile Challenge Ride - Sunday 28th August

Following on from our 100 km Challenge Ride in July, we are holding a 100 mile Challenge Ride on the 28th August 2016. There is no time limit on this ride, it is designed to offer a distance challenge to those wanting to add 100 mile to their list ot achievements. Starting from Whalley Bus Station at 7am, the route heads out through Wiswell and Pendleton, Gisburn, Wigglesworth and Rathmell, Clapham and Claughton before dropping into Glasson. The return trip takes in Garstang, Great Ecclesotn, Copp and Elswick,  before returning through Longridge and Ribchester to the finish back in Whalley.…

After the success of our joint ride "50 miles in 5 hours" with Blackburn & District CTC, several of our members have asked if we can do something similar. A few weeks ago we reported about the proposed rebrand of CTC to Cycling UK.  As you will no doubt be aware, the rebrand has now gone through, but not without comment. Former CTC Council member, Philip Benstead submitted a petition, signed by many of our members, asking that the re-brand was put to a full membership vote. Ride Leader Workshop

On 19th september 2015, the CTC launched a series of Ride Leader Workshops, to be held around the country over the following months.. We were lucky enough to secure a couple fo places on the first of these workshops, held in at the Palatine Sports Centre, in Blackpool This was a chance for both new and experience ride leaders to discuss various topics that add up to a successful ride, and ride leader, and was attended by approximately 20 cyclists from the CTC and affiliated clubs. Rebranding of CTC to Cycling UK

At last nights committe meeting, Burnley and Pendle CTC discussed news of a possible rebranding of the CTC to Cycling UK, which is believed willl be announced in April. This news has recently been circulating on various cycling related sites on the interent, and is causing concern to our members. The general feeling amongst our committee is that this is being pushed through without proper consultation, casts aside the strong heritage of the club, and does not reflect the views of the membership. Walney to Wear - Coast to Coast - May 2016

Details have now been finalised for the Walney to Wear coast to coast trip in May. A summary of the itinerary can be found below. The route starts at Walney Island, Barrow in Furness and traverses northeastwards to Wear, Sunderland, a distance of approximately 152 miles. The route takes in the southern Lake District, Orton Fells, Eden Valley and the North Pennines offering outstanding scenery along with some steep and long climbs. The Loves of my Life

The date for our next Slide Show has now been confirmed, and will take place at The Inn on the Wharf, Burnley at 7:30pm, Monday 14th March. Ian Lowcock will be presenting the "Loves ot my life", which was previously shown to Blackburn & District CTC before Christmas, and was very well received. Isle of Man Trip

If anybody is still interested in the long weekend trip to the Isle of Man from 7th - 11th April 2016, please contact Jim Duerden as soon as possible. Currently 11 members are interested and we are hoping to book after the Christmas Lunch on the 20th.   The cost will be approx. £250 .00 per person depending on the numbers. Accommodation is twin rooms, with single rooms available for a supplement.   Additional bookings can be taken later but spaces are limited, and this will not guarantee you being in the same hotel as the other riders.
